The effectiveness of schema therapy and cinema therapy in improving early maladaptive schemas and harm avoidance temperament in people with an avoidant personality disorder: A single case study

Introduction: Avoidant personality disorder is a relatively common disorder, widely coinciding with other axis I and II disorders. Aim: This study aimed to investigate the effectiveness of schema therapy cinema in improving early maladaptive schemas harm avoidance temperament dimension patients an avoidant disorder. Method: single-case research used quasi-experimental multiple-baseline design. Among 18 35-year-old referred Armana Psychological Clinic 2021, 4 individuals diagnosed disorders based on semi-structured clinical interview scale were selected by purposeful sampling. The tools this schema, temperament, character questionnaires. therapeutic program was held for 34 sessions 60-minute, follow-up phase performed 3 months after end intervention. data analyzed drawing charts calculating significance indices. Results: Participants’ scores terms showed descending trend from baseline treatment, indicating slight improvement (25%-49%). Regarding variable, downward direction compared baseline, revealing percentage less than 25%. indices (RCI≥1.96) both variables indicated method. Conclusion: Schema efficient treating disorder; however, efficacy inadequate correcting variable temperament.
